Last night I went to the Banff Mountain film festival (on tour). The centrepiece was the winning film, ‘Sur le fils des 4000‘, a film documenting the attempt by Patrick Bérhault and Philippe Magnin to climb all 82 summits above 4000 metres in the Alps. But as well as mountaineering there were also movies about bouldering, crack-climbling, skiing, mountain biking, base-jumping and paddling.
I dreamed of impossibly high ridges and dreamlike ascents …
