Sunday, I started my painting but by lunch was restless and so took Ross’s kayak to the river. I really wanted to see the bat colony, but I didn’t know how far away they were. I guess I should have checked the map but I just pointed upstream and off I went. Quite soon I saw a large Gippsland water-dragon swimming the water!
After some time, I got to the boat-house and thought ‘hmm, I think I’m more than halfway’.. and so kept going and going. I did get to the bats (which are really cool to view from the water) and back again but Ross was surprised about how long I had been out and I was quite surprised to see the map and find out I’d actually paddled 10km. Not a marathon but much further than I thought I was going for a relaxing afternoon.
